Small Groups are central to the way we do church at Vineyard Church of Delaware County. We believe that small groups are the best way to provide a context for real community, discipleship and ministry. Small Groups meet in homes throughout Delaware County, on most nights of the week. All of our small groups are "open", meaning that anyone can go to any small group. Every small group is different, so you may want to visit a few before you decide which one is for you. Eventually, we strongly encourage everyone to stick with one small group, because it will make it easier for you to build strong relationships, know others and be known, and learn how God has uniquely made you to serve in this church body.

SUMMER REMINDER: Due to vacations, family outings and good weather groups may be meeting at a different location, cancelled for a week or gathering for a social event. Please call ahead to ensure that the group is meeting at its host location.

Small Group FAQs

What goes on at a small group meeting?
The average Small Group meeting lasts about two hours. During that time, there will be worship, group discussion over a passage or teaching from the bible and an opportunity for members to pray with each other. The rest of the time is spent in "fellowship" - coffee, cake, conversation and just getting to know each other.

Do I have to be invited before I can attend a small group?
Absolutely not! All of our groups are open to anyone who would like to visit and "check them out."

What will happen if I just "show up" at a small group?
You will be warmly welcomed and invited to participate to the degree you feel comfortable. All of our groups are accustomed to visitors and new people. We advise, however, that you phone the leader in advance to make sure the group is still meeting at the same time and place. Leader's phone numbers are provided in the list above or on the information cards in the lobby.

Do I have to make a long-term commitment to a particular group?
No. You are free to visit as many group as you like, and to attend a group for as short or long a period as you want. We do recommend, however, that you select a group and stick with it for a while. That will give you a chance to really get a feel for the group and to form meaningful relationships with others.

Can I bring my children with me to a small group meeting?
Some groups do provide supervision or child care at the meeting place or nearby, but most do not. It is best to check in advance by calling the leader or host of the group you are interested in. Groups that offer child care consistently are identified in the list above and are also noted by the "ABC Blocks" on the group cards.
