Church Planting

Our Mission

God has called the Vineyard to be a movement that is actively planting new churches. Since 1981, Vineyard USA has planted 700 churches in the U.S. and numbers more around the world. The mission of Vineyard Church of Delaware County includes planting fruitful and relevant churches. We would like to see new churches start in Delaware County, Central Ohio, throughout the Great Lakes region, and around the world.

To date Vineyard Church of Delaware County has sent out two church plants. One plant of approximately 60 people to Mt Vernon (located 25 minutes north) and another plant of approximately 100 people to the city of Delaware, OH (located 20 minutes west). As we look at the surrounding communities in Delaware County and beyond, it is clear that we will continue to send out plants of this size (or larger).

Our Vision

As part of the church planting vision of VCDC, we hope to send out not just church plant couples or teams but “churches.” Home Groups and Home Group Leaders, Children’s Ministry workers, worship leaders and sound technicians are being trained not only to serve at VCDC, but are being equipped to go on plants so that each plant can hit the ground running. Larger teams will be comprised of singles and families, young and old, children, teens and adults.

By church planting in this way two things happen. First, critical mass helps the church plant start healthy and more stable, and it's impact in the community can be felt immediatetly. Secondly, sending out large numbers will allow VCDC to remain at a size that promotes relationship as the primary mode of discipleship. Being located in the fastest growing county in Ohio, VCDC will continue to attract new members and in order to maintain a relational size, we hope to send out church plants of all shapes and sizes.

If you have a desire to participate in a church plant, whether as a lead planter or part of the team, feel free to talk with one of the pastors. Obviously, by sending out large teams, there is room for you. Planting a church will not only change people, families, cities, states, and nations, but it will change you as well.
